Service Description

El Puente’s lived experience outreach workers hold a unique and critical role, engaging with some of the most vulnerable populations in our communities. As experts in gang intervention, they wear many hats—acting as mentors, advocates, and systems navigators for individuals seeking support from social services. Their work often involves crisis response, providing immediate aid to gang members and their families after shootings or homicides, while also keeping agencies informed of gang trends and activities. El Puente outreach workers not only understand the complex dynamics of local gangs, but they also embody the trust and credibility needed to build relationships with gang-involved individuals. Through this training, El Puente’s experienced team will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges and barriers they face, as well as the qualities that make an effective outreach worker. You’ll gain insight into the skills required to foster trust, model pro-social behavior, and navigate complex social dynamics. Ideal for professionals working directly with gang-affected populations, this session offers real-world strategies from seasoned experts in the field.
